In early November, Ziggy, a 22-year-old hip-hop producer/jazz composer, invited us to sit in on a tracking session at Engine Room Audio. The project, a collaboration with Dylan St. John, was facilitated by Treble, so Ziggy graciously let us tag along to document the whole process (more on this later) and preview a few of his upcoming records.
“This is not EDM,” Ziggy asserted as he shuffled through his catalogue. “We’re crafting a sound that injects classic funk and live instrumentation into the electronic music world.”
Ice Cream, the debut single from Ziggy’s collective, ZiG, is an infectious taste of that sound.
Featuring a rich medley of electronic and live instrumentals (including some mind-melting saxophone riffs) the track is every bit as irresistible as its title would have you hoping.
Check it out below and stay tuned for more music from the up-and-comer.
